KEMMCOM’s Corporate Affairs Practice Area is seeking a skilled Sustainability Consultant to support our projects in Ethiopia. The consultant will play a critical role in providing strategic guidance and expertise in sustainable development and environmental conservation. The consultant will collaborate with the project team to assess sustainability needs, conduct research, and develop recommendations that align with local contexts and address key challenges in Ethiopia. This role requires a deep understanding of the sustainability landscape in Ethiopia and the ability to influence and shape sustainable practices through evidence-based research and advocacy efforts.
• Collaborate with the project team to analyse and identify sustainability needs and priorities in Ethiopia.
• Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to understand the current sustainability landscape, relevant policies, regulations, and environmental dynamics in the country.
• Provide strategic guidance and recommendations on sustainable development and environmental conservation, considering the local context and challenges.
• Develop sustainability frameworks, action plans, and reports that communicate research findings, recommendations, and their environmental and social implications.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of sustainability initiatives, identifying successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
• Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in sustainability, both nationally and internationally, and integrate relevant knowledge into a project.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure sustainability recommendations are aligned with project goals and objectives.
• Support capacity-building efforts by designing and delivering training programs on sustainable development and environmental conservation.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables, and quality standards, while effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities.
Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
• Proven experience in sustainability consulting, sustainable development, or environmental conservation.
• In-depth knowledge of the sustainability landscape, environmental policies, and conservation efforts in Ethiopia.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to gather and synthesise complex information into actionable sustainability recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and proficiency in local languages of Ethiopia is a plus.
• Familiarity with sustainability evaluation methodologies and tools.
• Detail-oriented with exceptional organisational and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience working on sustainability projects in Ethiopia or similar contexts is highly desirable.
