Job Description:

KEMMCOM is seeking a skilled WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Consultant who will play a critical role in providing technical expertise, strategic guidance, and practical solutions to address WASH-related challenges in Ethiopia. This role involves assessing community needs, designing and implementing interventions, and ensuring alignment with local and international WASH standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assess WASH needs, priorities, and gaps in Ethiopia, considering the local context and challenges.
Conduct research and baseline assessments to understand the WASH landscape, including water resource availability, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene behaviors.
Develop and implement WASH strategies, action plans, and programmes that address identified needs and promote sustainable solutions.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including local communities, government bodies, and partner organisations, to ensure program success and sustainability.
Monitor and evaluate WASH programs, measuring their impact on health, sanitation, and community resilience.
Stay updated on WASH-related policies, best practices, and technological advancements, integrating relevant knowledge into project design and execution.
Deliver capacity-building workshops and training sessions for community members, local organisations, and project stakeholders to strengthen WASH practices.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining high-quality standards.

Qualifications :

Master’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, or a related field.

Experience & Skillset:

Proven experience in WASH consulting, program design, or implementation, particularly in low-resource settings.
In-depth knowledge of WASH policies, frameworks, and international standards (e.g., WHO, UNICEF).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative and sustainable WASH solutions.
Familiarity with the Ethiopian WASH landscape, including water resource challenges, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene behavior patterns.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in local Ethiopian languages is a plus.
Expertise in WASH evaluation tools and methodologies, including knowledge of monitoring and impact measurement.
Demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and NGOs.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Experience working on WASH projects in Ethiopia or similar contexts is highly desirable.
