KEMMCOM is seeking a skilled Gender Consultant who will play a pivotal role in providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and evidence-based recommendations to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. This role involves conducting gender assessments, designing interventions, and supporting the integration of gender considerations into project planning and execution. The consultant will collaborate with the KEMMCOM team to address gender-related challenges and opportunities, ensuring that initiatives contribute to equitable outcomes in alignment with local contexts and global gender equality standards.
Assess gender-related needs, gaps, and opportunities in Ethiopia, considering cultural and socio-economic contexts.
Conduct comprehensive gender analyses and assessments to identify barriers, risks, and opportunities for promoting gender equality.
Develop gender strategies, action plans, and frameworks tailored to specific projects and client needs.
Provide technical guidance on the integration of gender perspectives into policies, programs, and interventions.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including government agencies, civil society organisations, and community groups, to foster gender-sensitive approaches.
Design and implement capacity-building initiatives, including training programs and workshops, to enhance awareness and skills related to gender equality and inclusion.
Monitor and evaluate gender-related initiatives, measuring their impact and identifying areas for improvement.
Prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and advocacy materials to communicate findings and progress to stakeholders and donors.
Stay updated on gender-related policies, international standards, and best practices, integrating relevant insights into project execution.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with quality standards and organizational goals.
Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, or a related field.
Proven experience in gender consulting, gender equality programming, or women’s empowerment initiatives, particularly in Ethiopia or similar contexts.
Strong knowledge of gender-related policies, frameworks, and international standards.
Expertise in conducting gender assessments, analyses, and impact evaluations.
Familiarity with the Ethiopian gender landscape, including cultural norms, challenges, and opportunities for advancing gender equality.
Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information into actionable recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic; proficiency in local Ethiopian languages is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including communities, government agencies, and NGOs.
Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Experience designing and delivering gender training or capacity-building programs.
