Parliament is set to adopt the revised method of computing the excise tax this week. When that happens, the tax will be deducted from sales or revenue rather than production, as it is now. Almost all bottlers are pleased that tax will be computed on sales because it is simpler and shifts the tax burden to users, but they want the government to reduce the rate.
